The National Summit on Fortification of Food was held from October 16-17, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan,NewDelhi,India.
Honourable Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Pubic Distribution, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan and Honourable Union Minister of State Smt. Anupriya Patel graced the occasion.
The Summit began on World Food Day, October 16, 2016, with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp. Shri Ashish Bahuguna, Chairperson, FSSAI delivered the Welcome Address. Shri Pawan Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI set the context for the Summit. Dr. Hameed Nuru, Country Director, WFP delivered a Special Address.
In the two-day long Summit, FSSAI along with Government & Development Partners, Industry, eminent scientists and officials deliberated on Fortification of Food as a way to fight micronutrient malnutrition in India and developed an action plan to implement by all the stakeholders.
The Summit concluded with a Joint Declaration by all stakeholders as a mark of their commitment towards fighting micronutrient malnutrition in India.
